What a great ride was had by all at the Coldstream Ranch. The weather was great with no more than 135 rain drops (I counted), no dust and just the right amount of sunshineDSC00463

We had the pleasure of being joined by some new members and a guest who became a member upon completion of the ride. I would like to thank all for joining us and we look forward to seeing you on more rides and possibly our monthly general meetings.

DSC00465Of note there was 11 riders and upon our agreement with the Ranch Owners Keith and Chelsea Balcaen, we are pleased to have raised $55.00 for the Vernon Riding Club. We also would like to acknowledge our appreciation to the Balcaens for allowing  access to the Ranch for our chapter of the the Back Country Horseman.

We encourage you  to keep informed via are ride schedule, as we will be looking for a possible ride into the high country above the ranch on the north side of Hwy 6 this fall followed possibly with a pot luck BBQ dinner.DSC00462

Fall Ride & Camping,

The Larch Hills Nordic Recreation Area provides some great riding trails from short to long. We will be hopefully scheduling another "Camp & Ride" event sometime this year.It is a great location for some cooler temperatures in the summer when the valley bottom temperatures are in the 30's.

Our club and the Shuswap Chapter have both installed steel corral structures for rider use throughout the season, feel free to utilize  the corrals and enjoy the area any time. Note a small fee for overnight use of the coralls of $10.00/night is charged, all funds are used to assists the Nordic Club with trail and facility maintence throughout the year.

It was all sunshine, wild flowers and mind blowing scenery as Jim McMillan led a group of riders

on a tour of the Galloping Hills. DSCN4886

Located at the head waters of the Kettle and Granby Rivers, the Galloping Hills are an alpine paradise, 6,000 feet and up, with spectacular mountain vistas and fine, open riding.
